Rarely does R’ Yaakov Meir Shechter, a Gadol immersed in Torah and leader of thousands, have the time to endorse an organization or charitable effort of any kind.
But this Erev Pesach, out of his own initiative, R’ Shechter came out in full support of the Oneg Shabbos Pre-Pesach Chalikah by sending out a beautiful and inspirational message that was featured on the Kol Mevaser hotline.
The Drusha, that took place amid the Erev Yom Tov frenzy, went viral in seconds as thousands of listeners tuned in to hear R’ Shechter’s endorsement as well as words of Chizzuk in these trying times.
The beautiful messages that poured forth and the swell of new donations that started coming in displayed the beautiful Achdus of Klal Yisroel and the power of listening to our leaders- which inspires us and keeps us united as one.
“The world is in a terrible Matzev right now”, R’ Shechter said in his message. “Nobody knows what the next moment will bring. But the answer to those that seek to save and protect themselves is “Tzedukah Tatzil Mimuves” and it’s relevant to anyone who helps out a fellow Yid in these trying times.”
“Chazal say” Kol Hamrachem Al Habrios Merachmim Alav Min Hashmayim; Whoever is compassionate to Hashem’s creatures is shown compassion from above.” Indeed It’s a concept of Midah Keneged Midah, and to those that help out Yidden with whatever they can, will sent be sent a flurry of Yeshuos and Refuos from above.”
R’ Shechter continued with an urgent call for action. “Please do your part in assisting the efforts of R’ Ephraim Stern and the Askanim that are involved.
Now more than ever, Oneg’s weekly recipients need help bringing Pesach into their homes. And there should be no scenario at all where a Yiddisha Mishpacha should not have Pesach food and drink this year.”
R’ Shechter finished off his endorsement with beautiful Bruchos to Klal Yisroel. “May we receive Bunei, Chayei, Imzoinei Revichei.” he said. “And may we soon be Zoche to the Geula Sheleima B”V Umein.”
Indeed, may this ongoing crisis end very soon and may we see the coming of Mashiach Bez”H.
R’Yaakov Meir Shechter Shl”ita.
